Somos Group team members led the creation of a comprehensive community benefits plan and permitting strategy for the 25-year, $4B-investment master plan for the university. The project represented the development of the largest project for the UC system and the largest teaching hospital in the nation.
The completed work included advising the university on land use permitting and entitlements with the City and County of San Francisco, the negotiation of labor agreement, the design and implementation of a robust community benefits agreement including transportation and mobility plans, affordable housing for students and faculty, community access, and preservation of open space.
Members of Somos also advocated to create a strong labor partnership, aligned with UCSF’s vision to serve the Bay Area and beyond over the next 30 years. This resulted in the creation of the first ever UCSF Community Workforce Agreement with the San Francisco Building and Construction Trades Council. This agreement represents a major milestone in labor relations with the University of California system, creating jobs and economic stability for men and women
