Sonia Ransom
Of Counsel

Sonia is known for the successful entitlement of complex development projects of all product types in a multiplicity of jurisdictions. Her projects have included major innovative office, mixed use, retail and housing projects including master planned communities. Sonia does her best both to be expeditious and cost effective. Sonia’s knowledge of federal, state and land use local law is extensive and includes but is not limited to the law governing vested rights, planning and zoning, the California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act, federal, state and local law relating to historic preservation. However, Sonia believes that successful entitlement projects require more than legal expertise to get them over the finish line. Excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of the relevant politics are also critical.
Sonia collaborated with Real Estate Southern California to transform the printed list of women honored as Southern California’s Most Influential Women in Commercial Real Estate into a dynamic and moving event for the honorees and others. Similarly, when Sonia relocated from Los Angeles to San Francisco, she initiated contact with the San Francisco Business Journal and developed a collaboration on a new to San Francisco event, focusing on women who not only transformed the commercial real estate landscape but who also generally had not been recognized for their contributions.
She is a member of the State Bar of California, the District of Columbia Bar Association and is an American College of Real Estate Lawyers fellow.
