Max Masuda-Farkas is an associate in the Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental Practice Group in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
Max advises clients on a broad range of transactional, litigation, and regulatory matters involving largescale infrastructure and real estate development projects. He has experience navigating complex legal challenges arising from environmental statutes including the California Environmental Quality Act, local land use regulations in numerous jurisdictions, and mergers and acquisitions involving significant environmental liabilities. Max assists clients during the full life cycle of the development process, from project ideation and design to construction and operations.
Max received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and his J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where he was awarded the Frank H. Gelman Prize in real property and real estate transactions. Max also earned a master’s degree in Urban Spatial Analytics from the University of Pennsylvania Weitzman School of Design, studying data science in the context of cities and public policy. At Penn, Max served as an associate editor of The Regulatory Review and authored several articles on topics including transportation policy, land use reform, and urban migration in Asia.
Max serves on the Council of Advisors of the Wende Museum and on the Board of Directors of College Match LA.
