Balam Alatriste
Junior Urban Designer
Balam Alatriste is an architect and urban planner focused on socially responsive and sustainable urban development. His work sits at the intersection of architecture, urban design, and urban planning, with a particular interest in housing and the role of planning in shaping more equitable cities.
He holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy Design from Politecnico di Milano, where he combined design methodologies with critical analysis to better understand and address complex urban challenges. His critical approach to planning and development has led him to collaborate with architectural design firms and public-private partnerships focused on the built environment.
For more than two years, Balam has been actively involved in architectural education in Mexico. He has taught courses in architectural design, landscape design, and urban design at Universidad Iberoamericana León and Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Since 2026, Balam has been part of Somos Group as a Junior Urban Designer. As part of the team, he seeks to bring a community-centered perspective to the development of new projects across Mexico and the United States.
